Hah, no one has posted anything since my i9 post and now i11 is due? NICE!

I've been back semi-casual-regular for the last week, and have finally managed to *drumroll* a) get my 1st villain to 50 and b) get a second alt to 50. Same char of course.

Anyway, I'll be around - most likely hero-side pinnacle, with some villain-side on champion.

Hellgate:London comes out this week though, so I'll be doing that for a while, hopefully i11 gives me at least a month of that before it drops.

I9 stuff and junk

I, for one, am really enjoying I9. I've wasted the time (it seems to take 1-2 hours per character) to fully deck out 5 or 6 chars in IOs now, and boy is it worth it efficiency wise. Quick advice: If you're not rich, screw the set bonuses, just got for combining the dual & triple aspect set IOs to maximize your powers - for most you can get 9 slots worth. I usually wind up with 95 dmg, 60% end, 60% acc, 60% recharge.

I've seen a few of you on recently, but haven't managed to connect much. I talked a little with Stagger, and we're going to shoot for trying an STF this weekend, Saturday night I think. Probably after 9pm PST. Nothing written in stone, because my schedule is dictated by the pregnant wife currently, but somewhere around there would be nice. I'll have my 47 fire/ff, recently respecced for vengeance & he's got Helper Monkey. So that's the support...we just need the rest :).

Inventions / Storage

I just updated the base with the personal invention salvage storage access point (that's a mouthful) and a few inventing stations. Unfortunately, the inventing stations count as worktables and couldn't be placed in the main workshop by the cafe/lounge. I stuffed two stations into the first empty apartment next to the salvage storage room. The vault is in the storage area along with a third inventing station.

Team Evil-- I think this time card expiration will be the end to my City of X journey. I've got some other things to focus on. I'll probably see on Chaos Force Mage's account if i8 will be enough to bring me back, but I'm going to try to stay away as a test of my will power. Private apartments

Since we have exactly 4 active Evil Geniuses (Omicron Cypher, Burning Bush, Voltaic Bot, and me) and 1 active Enforcer (Mie), it seems logical to give the 5 private apartments in the base to them. It also makes base editting permissions easy to assign. If/when we have enough prestige to upgrade the plot again, we'll have room for more personal space -- this will require approximately another 3 million prestige, though.

I've claimed the 2nd room, and OC claimed the last one. I put a big lateral file in the doorway to OC's room to mark it off, and mine is already decorated. Feel free to claim any of the empty rooms.

Here are four basic guidelines that will prevent a lot of headaches later: (In more blunt terms, how to not screw up other parts of the base.)

Please don't change the lighting or wall/ceiling/trim styles -- they apply to the entire room, not just your apartment. If you want more light in your room, add lights -- I recommend the Tech 2 lights, the torches, or the Shoji lamps. If you don't like the trim, you can put small items on the walls to force it to hide. Whoever gets the first room will almost definitely want to do this, as the ceiling trim was chosen for the storage area, not the apartment area.

Please don't use the SG banners. Each banner that has something other than the TE logo can only be used once, or else it will revert all other banners of that type back to the TE logo. Basically, it's very easy to screw up the main atrium or the oversight room by using banners, and they don't really fit anyway.

Please don't spend more than 30k prestige on your room -- I doubt that you'll use that much, since most decorative items only cost 100 prestige each, but we currently have about 120k in the bank, and it'd be good to split it evenly to start. For an idea on how much 30k will buy you, the furnishings in my room cost 5400 prestige (not including the pillars).

Please don't add any functional items. If you think that the base needs more of some particular functional item, tell me, and I'll stick it somewhere in the public areas. Basically, anything under the "arcane" tab or to the right of it is decorative, anything to the left of the "arcane" tab is functional. Ironically, anything you can craft and add via "Add personal item" is also a functional item, so you can just ignore the whole crafting thing.

Invite the Center

Okay, Pal has the last two missions of Viridian's arc, and while I could (probably) solo them, it'd be much more fun to get a big team together. For those who aren't familiar with these, the first one consists of being ambushed by every single Council AV in the game (in sequence, not all at the same time). The second's supposed to be even more fun.

So, who's in? I'm free just about anytime this weekend, so I propose tomorrow at 8pm eastern. Since I'm sure this will be more fun with a big team, I'll plan to fill the group out with pick-ups once we've got the TE people on board.

Missions are at level 50, lower levels are welcome assuming we have the mentors for it.

Base Update and Personal Appartments

The base is now mostly-decorated, with only the main teleport chamber left to do. (I'm actually a bit at a loss what to do with it -- there's not really room spacially or thematically to make part of the room another social area, so I'll probably end up just throwing a few desks and LCDs in the room and calling it a day.

The base was redesigned for easy navigation, unlike the previous base, where the teleporters were pushed into the back corner rather far away from the entry. From the entrance, you should turn left for the teleporters and control room and straight for the med bay and inspiration storage. Directly past the med bay is the empowerment station (all buffs are available from the most advanced version, so we don't need the other 2) and the enhancement storage. Our secondary salvage storage is in the basement by the empowerment station -- there's a (much) larger storage room in the back-right corner of the base. Along the right side of the base are various decorative rooms, including a meeting/ceremony hall with banners from our allies (and enemies) and a ballroom/meeting room with an open bar and custom wood floor. Also along the right side of the base is the "CuppaJo Cafe", lounge area, and workshop.

One nice bonus of having extra room is that we have room for 5 2x1 apartments in the back of the base. I was thinking that it'd be cool to divvy them up among the members (either by rank, by prestige earnings, by seniority, or something else), although we'd have to figure something out with the editting permissions to allow people to personalize their space. Any suggestions on how to do all of this? Alternatively, if this would just be a big can of worms, I can just convert them into generic apartments not specifically claimed by anybody or rip out the apartments entirely in favor of more open communal space (although I'm at a loss as to what else to install). To keep with the base design, the "owners" wouldn't be able to adjust the floor/ceiling heights, wall styles, or main room lighting, and they'd be limitted to adding non-functional decorative items, plus no banners (mainly because the banners are in a delicate state in order to maintain our grand hall). However, you can do quite a bit with just the basic decorative times. Any thoughts?

On a side note, I'm temporarily removing the "secret club" beyond the basement to ensure that we can make our rent this week. Any prestige earned beyond our next rent payment will go towards reinstalling that room.

Annihilator Badge and the RSF

I'm not sure when I'll have time to seriously tackle an entire RSF, but I know that OC at least really wants the Master of Olympus and (more importantly) Annihilator badges. I think Capio might have missed out on that one, too, last week...

What do people think about running at least the first 3 missions of the RSF Saturday around 4pmish EDT? I was thinking that we could open it up to the public as an "Annihilator without having to do the whole RSF" kind of thing....

Anyway, if people are interested, please post here. I'll see how many we get by Thursday or so, then post on the Pinnacle forum to fill out the team. The goal here would be to complete the first three missions to get the Annihilator badge -- I should have more time to make a real effort at this SF the following weekend, if people are interested.

Edit: Okay, I'm posting on the Pinnacle forum that we have at least four available slots this Saturday. The team is me, OC (probably), Capio, and we have room for one more. If we end up with more than four TE people, they can have Palcioz's spot (since he already has the badges).

RSF After-action report

Well, we were short a few people and ran this without what is generally considered the "optimal" AT distribution of 4ish corruptors and 1-2 brutes. We were:

3 MMs (Grave Sorcerer, Mie, and Droid Master)
3 Brutes (Capio, Bad Mike, and Dreadfyre Wraith)
1 Stalker (Dark Moon)
and 1 Dominator (me)

The first two missions went reasonably well -- Crimson with his EB escorts, Kronos Titan, and the Malta MM AV whose name escapes me were all fairly straightforward to defeat. We took a while taking out Psyche/Numina/Manticore/BaB in the ruins of AP, but we managed to finally pull that off. We were around 4 hours into the thing when we finally called it quits against the Vindicators, although it was more out of fatigue than defeat. We managed to single pull Swan once and almost defeat her, but we got Swan/Luminary/Mynx the second time. After this wipe, we called it a night seeing how we didn't expect to be able to take out the 54 AVs in the next mission anyway.

I unfortunately won't have time to run another of these for a while, as I'm pretty booked for this weekend, I have an old friend from grade school visiting during the week, and it's my wife's and my first anniversary next weekend. Feel free to schedule one without me, though, and I'll see if I can make it.

Thanks for coming, everybody -- I've been curious about this SF for a while. 3 more levels on Bray, and I can bring him instead.

Preparing for the RSF

A few things to do before we start the RSF tomorrow (Friday) night at 7:30 EDT:

Get warheads from Warburg. Try to grab a chem warhead and a bio warhead. The nuke warheads aren't too useful, so don't worry about them.

Get Shivans from Bloody Bay. These will be very useful if we need more damage.

Download TeamSpeak and test it out on Mike's server. The server info is in the MotD. If you need help setting it up, contact me or Mike.

Stock up on larger inspirations. Feel free to remove smaller inspirations from the base storage if you need more space to horde them.

Items of Power

According to Cricket, the CoP trial is going live before scheduled base raids. What this means is that, until the base raids go live, we're free to capture IoPs without fear of being raided.

If I remember correctly, the IoP is targetted at a maximum of 24 players, although I believe it's been done with a team of 8. Players of all levels will be able to participate.

I'm hoping that this will go live with the new base rooms, which will allow us to convert several of our decorative rooms into cheaper versions (saving us 50k-100k each). Regardless, I'll revamp the base to hold an IoP once it goes live, and we can give this monster a try.

I knew we had a raid teleporter for a reason. :)

No internet...

Sadly, Earthlink (or Time Warner Cable, who provides their NYC cable service) is experiencing a network outage, and I won't be online until it's fixed. Among other things, it's entirely possible that I won't be able to do the Paragon Protector farming tomorrow night.

It was the weirdest thing being able to get an IP address and ping the gateway but not be able to access anything else online. Couldn't figure out what was going wrong until my wife pointed out that we could just call tech support and listen to their pre-recorded service outage message. Silly wife...doesn't she know that if it's not online, then it doesn't exist?

Thankfully, I had episodes of Rome to catch up on last night. Maybe I'll finally go pick up Oblivion this afternoon and see if I can make my computer cry....

Update: Just realized that I can't even order groceries without the internet. Guess we're eating take-out. Perhaps I'm a bit too dependent on the internet. Oh, well...could be worse. I can't imagine going two weeks without electricity, and that's essentially right across the river from me....

Update 2: Ahh, internet restored just shy of 24 hours later. I guess if that's the only outage this year, they'll have scored 99.7% uptime, which sounds fine until you're in that .3%.

Base Rent

Base rent has been paid. Remember that in the short time between power shutting off and the rent getting paid, you can still use coalition teleporters and autodocs. Additionally, the empowerment stations and storage do not require power, so they will be still available in our base. So, the only thing that is completely unavailable when the power is down is the medical reclaimator.

Recluse SF

You guys probably already know this, but there is a bug in the Recluse SF right now where you can spawn the heroes at lower levels - I think this is done by running it on relentless. It is fixed on test, I don't think it has hit live yet??? Maybe it has. Anyway, just saying you might want to take a "practice" run at it before they fix it. Sure wish I had a 47+ to go along with you but I'm just not motivated by end game content & PPs for any of my characters yet.

Oh, I'm still around, I've just been slumming on champion lately playing with some newbie doms since my Pinn stable is full the funk up.

Bray strolls past the lounges and workshops and descends into the basement of the Team Evil Mansion. After navigating through the shelves and shelves of scavanged EChips, dodging around the humming generator, and avoiding the deranged white-coated scientists working in the lab, he arrives at the small door hidden in the back.

Bray knocks. A small panel slides open, and a pair of steel eyes glares at him. A voice growls through the door.

"What's the password?" it asks.

"I don't know the password. I'm one of Omicron Cypher's friends," Bray replies.

"Omicron Cypher? I don't know anybody called Omicron Cypher," says the voice.

"That's funny. Omicron Cypher is the one who wanted Filipino strippers in the first place," says Bray.

"Alright. Maybe I do know Omicron Cypher. But you're still not getting inside without the password. Go back to your regular gin joint if you want to dance a Charleston. Go shake down a bank if you're looking for some graft."

The panel slams shut. With a sigh, Bray takes a deep breath and howls. The shockwave blows the door off of its frame and crushes the unfortunate bouncer underneath.

"Easy enough to enter, as long as you speak the right language," Bray mutters as he strolls into the club.

Patron pet news

If anyone cares, I did some timing with the Blood Widow.

Slotted with no Recharge SOs, she is right on the money as advertised. 4 minutes up and 15 minutes total recharge, so 11 minutes of down time.

With 3 Recharge SOs giving approx 96% increase, 4 minutes of down time. So 15 down to 8 total recharge time. No idea what I will go with, but for now I am slotted 3 recharge and 1 damage. I might flop that around as I forget all about her most of the time anyway as I Fury Smash through missions. =)

Cool Mission

Base Rent

Just in case anybody is wondering why we have near-constant messages about the base rent and don't just pay the stupid thing when the message pops up, check out this post on the base construction forum. Basically, we end up paying half as much by staring at that message for 2 weeks and a third as much by waiting until the power gets shut off before paying (ie, staring at that message for four weeks out of every six). That's a pretty big difference at our current rent levels.

Just food for thought. (Plus, it's nice to know that there are reasons for doing things other than being lazy about running over to Port Oakes to see the registrar.)

Connection Problems

Looks like my connection isn't going to be good enough to let me play much this weekend. There's nothing quite like the frustration of when your upstream connection vanish while the downstream is just fine -- gives you a very good show of the Bastilla breaking free of your holds and 2-shotting you while you're helpless to do anything.

Base Update

We're within a few hundered thousand prestige of buying the next big upgrade to our base. Here are our two main options:

(1) Upgrade the plot. Although this won't make an immediate visible difference, it will let us buy more rooms later. We've currently filled the 8x12 plot, and the next step up will be 12x12. This would be the best option for building towards a nice big RP/PvE base.

(2) Buy the turbine generator. OC has been lugging this thing around for quite some time. We'll get a big boost in power, which would allow us to reinstall the arcane worktables. However, we don't really have room for the arcane tables due to the empowerment/storage items, and we don't really need them either, since we're using tech base upgrades. This would be the option for building a raidable base; however, I haven't heard any interest in getting into the base defending scene. (The raid teleporter allows us to attack in instant raids, although we've never even used it.)

I'm in favor of (1), as I don't think any of us are really into instant base raids, and IoPs are essentially vaporware. Our base is fully outfitted with everything we can get for the PvE game (except for a couple of medical upgrades that we need healing badges for), so the prestige that we're earning would go towards expanding the base and installing more storage when we need it.

Once we earn the next couple hundred prestige, I'll do a thorough reworking of the base with the new tinting options. So, please comment here if you have any input as to what the next upgrade should be (one of the above or something else) or what type of design scheme you'd like to see.

Dog days of Summer

Sorry I have been MIA a lot lately. The Pacific Northwest right now is having one of its Freaking amazing once in a decade summers. Just a shame to spend it indoors. I will however be making up for it a lot over the next week. Most my friends are leaving town for several days and I have some much desired leveling to get going on. If you see me on, just shoot me a hello. I am not always good at saying hi in /sg when I log. I will be on today/tonight for sure. How early depends on my ability to Ninja Vanish from the office.

In the mean time, I will continue to try and figure out how to set up an office on my deck =)

Thursday Indigo x2

Okay, I've been saddled with not one but two missions to go take out Indigo. Anybody feel like taking out Paragon City's most reclusive contact? The one who hangs out way in the back of the only city zone to not have a tram and sends you on frequent delivery missions to PI and AP? Twice?

I'll probably be aiming to do these Thursday night around 8pm EDT (approx), as I have a rather large project to work on tomorrow. Find me if you're interested in helping out and (time permitting) teaming a bit afterwards. Expect to fight her as a level 46 EB or AV, depending on team size. The missions are from the mad scientist guy and the spider girl in case you want to double up on the Indigoness (the 45-50 contacts, not the 40-45 ones).

PS -- when you get temp powers from the 45-50 mad scientist guy, use them up each mission until he says that he's giving you the last one. They don't get refilled unless they're gone.

He requires defeating 200 Toxic Tarantulas, of which there are plenty in Grandville (abit level 43-44 at the lowest, but they're mostly solo and occasionally duo). I'm going to aim for clearing out the rest of my badge (160 or so) on Wednesday night -- feel free to drop me a line if you want to join me for some or all of it.

Infamy Budgetting

In case anybody is trying to figure out how much they'll need to buy their level 45 SOs, I just spend about 3.5 million on mine. This is upgrading almost every slot (some already had 45s in them), mostly with accs and dmgs. (Final count was 20 accs, 21 dmgs, and around 20ish misc stuff.)

Previous calculations put an upper bound of 4.3 million infamy on the level 45s (assuming you slotted everything with damage or heal at 54k a pop). So, that was approximately a 25% overestimate of the actual cost. The upper bound for level 50s is about 5.5 million. If we assume the same 25% overestimation, we find that a full set of level 50s should cost about 4.5 million.

Skipping "Verifying files..."

You can start CoH/V directly (bypassing the updater) by creating a shortcut to the actual program file (CityOfHeroes.exe). Edit the shortcut, and add " -project coh" (no quotes) after everything else that's currently in the Target line. In particular, if the path in the target line is already in quotes, do not remove them; the " -project coh" should be added after the existing quotes.

You can do the same for the test server, except with " -project cohtest". If you miss a patch, the game will tell you and not let you log on. Just run the updater as usual and you'll be good to go.

On a side note, check out this thread if you're interested in using your gladiators for your badge title.

Well, this would seem to be the opportune time to try to find some new members. It seems that it might be more fruitful to recruit in the lower levels...I'll get a new alt started and see if I can find anybody interesting to team with this weekend. Anybody else have brand-newbies that would like to come?

If you have any other ideas for getting new members, feel free to speak up. I know Mav's been working on some of our higher level friends, but I'm going to make more of an effort to take some random people on teams and see if there are any worth recruiting.

On a side note, sorry about this evening...CoH hard-crashed on me while exitting the mission, and it's getting kind of late anyway.

Lessons from I7

(1) My computer likes to crash at inopprotune moments, especially while SJing around Grandville and landing in the middle of a bunch of Bane Spiders.

(2) The second Scirroco arc ends on a really cool (so far) unique outdoor map. This map includes two Ice Mistrals to defeat.

(3) The new Arachnoid caves are visually very nice.

(4) There were waypoints to the hostages in a rescue-hostages-type mission. Unfortunately, the hostages weren't actually at those locations. Also unfortunately, they were tiny little spiderlings that were very difficult to spot. Additionally unfortunately, the map was an outdoor version of Grandville, complete with massive visual lag, three levels of platforms to explore, and tunnels running underneath the whole thing. None of the hostages were on the ground level.

(5) In an effort to up the annoying-ness of that contact, the following mission was a defeat-all-longbow. In an Arachnos base. Where every spawn but the last one was a pair of Spec-Ops. And where the boss was bugged so he "escaped" and you failed the mission as soon as you attacked him. (No, there were no knockback powers involved. I don't have any.)

I assume its because the doors on the front of the area in Grandvale (however its speeled) went missing sometime early today and people couldn't get in or out of the main building without some TP help. Thugs & blogger

Thugs/ is a ton of fun. And, for the time being, their tier 2 pet buffs of maneuvers/tactics/assault work on other thug pets at least, if not other pets in general. So now's a great time to roll up a thug/ mm! I think we've got 3 already - mine is thug/ta, Wave has a thug/dark, and False has a thug/something.

As you can tell I'm more excited by the new powersets than the 40+ content right now. The av/gm mega buff has really turned me off to all those AVs/ebs for the time being, as I would rather fight AVs (at the old level) in groups than EBs, and fighting AVs now is not very bright without the right team. Judging by the furor on the boards though, it will hopefully be undone (at least the huge hp regen rates) before too long. I'll probably be holding off until that point to do very much serious 40+ play.

Advice: IF you do plan to do the 40+ content, especially the patron arcs which have many AV/heros, turn your difficulty down to 3 or 4 if solo, or less if teamed. Pretty much the only way to beat av/hero/gms right now is with -regen. /dark has this in its heal, rad has it in LR. Bots has it to a limited degree in the assault bot blast, and cold has it in benumb - but neither of those is guaranteed perma, so be very careful!

Blogger has been very unresponsive lately, it looks like the whole database was down yesterday, hopefully they'll get it fixed before too long.

Base Update

I've installed 1 inspiration storage, 1 enhancement storage, 3 salvage storage, and 1 arcane empowerment station into the base. Everything is along the north side of the base, starting just beyond the library and going back towards the basement. This is semi-temporary -- I'll do a more thorough revamp of the base when I have more time, probably this weekend.

Keep in mind that all storage is accessible to all full members (slacker and above). Also, there are likely still some bugs remaining in the system, so use at your own risk.

Edit: Added the Grandville beacon, too. It's attached to the teleporter next to the Nerva/StM one.

Edit 2: There are known issues with base storage. Specifically, "If a player is kicked out of his/her base when putting items in storage - the items may be lost. It is also possible that items may be lost from storage if a storage container is moved more than a few feet in the base editor." I again emphasize, use at your own risk.

Edit 3: I've added the 2nd tier arcane empowerment station. I don't quite have enough salvage to make the 3rd tier one. (Specifically, I'm short 3 Essences and 6 Glyphs.) Since OC is the salvage collector, I'm dumping the components I do have in the second arcane salvage bin in the basement so OC can craft one and put it in the base.

The Best Kicked Ass Respec EVER!

On Sunday, Atomic Frost, Fallen Valkyrie, Trim and I (I think I'm missing someone) did the lvl 20-30 respec. It was a 3 Corruptor and 1 Master Mind team. we only died 3 three times but we kicked that trees ass so hard it aint comin back. so did it in about an hour +. pretty good!

In an odd and confusing (and somewhat frustrating) turn of events I'll be alone for the weekend. So we all know what that means - mad SF catch up for me!

My tentative plan is to hit Silver Mantis around 8pm pacific friday night, possibly a little earlier, depending on when folks get on.

Saturday mid-morning (11-noonish pacific start) I'd like to take a run at Operative Renault - this is the only one I haven't successfully completed CoV side (3 masterminds were not enough for that silly eye!).

Saturday afternoon/night up I'm for a respec or two on the 21-31 (or whatever the lower range is now) trial.

If I'm really bored I might even take a run at Bastion or Numina hero side on Sunday! That or an rsk'd Virgil Tarikoss SF so I can grab the badge for KV or BB, whoever needs it.

SO - who's available when and for what?

We ran the Sharkhead last night and tore through it really well, around 3-3.5 hours I think. It seemed like most of the deaths were during the first kill task. Always amusing. And the Eye killed me in the first 10 seconds, so I was real useful there.

The badge failed to reward, but I petitioned & was notified by email this morning that the badge was awarded, and lo and behold it actually was. Fastest gm turnaround time I've ever seen. Capio also reports that he was awarded the badge this morning.

Tonight (Saturday 06/03) I will be running the first villain respec trial. I'm thinking after dinner, so maybe around 7 pm pacific? Depends on when folks get in - see you then!

Per the thread here, all test chars will be temporarily wiped and we will be able to create brand new level 40 heroes or villains from May 24th at around 11:00 am Central to May 26th around 8:00 am Central....So, we should get a few SG villain pvp teams going and try some crazy pvp builds - as a team, see what (if anything) the fuss over pvp is all about, and see how much damage we can cause intentionally.

Things to try:
All flying claws/spines stalkers.
All ar/x corruptors with heavy slotting in snipe (no trail to see where shots fired from)
All thug mms for massive pet fest (hello real GANG WAR!)
All elec brutes for massive tele-smash?
All /traps corrs & mms + tfoe for massive gank field fest.

And a million more other fun things I'm sure. I'll definitely be putting in a few hours during this even, hopefully I'll be able to get my standard global (@lobster) - if only just to test thugs, elec brutes, & TA in pvp. Thoughts?

Silver Mantis: Well done, everybody. Somehow, I knew that our doom-and-gloom hype to Mav was going to leave us sputting, "But...it was far worse last time we did it!" Not to mention various references to "uphill both ways" and "through shoulder-high snow with only Rikti monkey skins wrapped around our feet for protection."

Badge Hunting Contest: Well, we have a grand total of one entrant, whose badge score hasn't changed in a few days. I say we give him 10k for each point scored (so, figure around 200k). I'll pay this out from my portion of the prize fund, but...

Away from Game for a Bit: I'll be far away from internet access from the 20th until the 27th. I'll pass Mav a couple hundred thousand infamy for distributing prizes. Do we want to try to run this contest again when I7 hits and people are levelling up their new toons?

OK, after numerous alts, this list should be just about complete. I'm still missing a few special contacts (the ghost one in PO at least). I've put all the info into the first comment so it doesn't push the contest info and such down too far.

Time frame: This contest will begin at 7pm EDT on May 10th and end at 7pm EDT on May 21st.

Two ways to enter:
- Players able to start their characters between 7pm EDT and 9pm EDT should meet the Team Evil representative in Breakout. Your character will then be entered into our database.
- Players unable to start their characters during this time frame should join City Information Terminal's global chat channel "CIT". They then should take a screenshot of their character (1) standing in front of the first contact in Breakout (2) with the character name visible and (3) with the MotD from the CIT channel visible. Email this screenshot to maverickx@cityinfoterminal.com with the subject line "Badge Contest Registration" and manually register this character on City Information Terminal as usual.

How to play: Players must use the City Game Tracker or HeroStats to automatically track your badges with City Information Terminal. (See below for information on how to set up CGT.) If you are unable to use CGT or HS, please contact maverickx@cityinfoterminal.com to make alternate arrangements. Any technical issues with badge tracking should also be sent to that address.

Three ways to win:
- Points will be awarded based on the badges collected. See the following post for the points breakdown. The player with the most points at the end of the contest will win the grand prize. The player with the second most points at the end of the contest will win the runner-up prize.
- The first player to collect the "Low Level Badge Set" (see below) will win a prize. (This prize is only available to users of CGT/HS.)
- The first player to collect a mystery badge set (all theoretically attainable at level 15) will win a prize. (This prize is also only available to users of CGT/HS.)
Players are allowed to use any method (allowed by Cryptic/NCSoft) in their badge collecting. This includes collaborating with other characters of any level, whether in the contest or not.

Grand prize and runner-up winners must be available sometime between 7pm EDT and 11pm EDT on May 21st to have their badges verified in-game. Prizes will be distributed after all winners have been verified. If a player will be unable to log in during this time, he or she may ask to be pre-verified before the end of the contest by contacting @Balshor or @Maverick X in-game.

Prizes:
- The player with the most points will win 2 million infamy and pick of 2 HOs from the list below.
- The player with the second most points will win 1 million infamy and a pick of 1 HO, after the 1st place winner has chosen.
- The first player to collect the "low level badge set" will win 1 million infamy and a pick of 1 HO, after the 1st and 2nd place winners have chosen.
- The first player to collect a mystery grab-bag of badges will win 1 million infamy and a pick of 1 HO, after the above winners have chosen.
Prize restrictions:
- Each player may only win one prize.
- HOs will only be awarded if the player has a level 45-50 hero. If the player has only lower level heroes, he or she will instead win (calculate enough influence to buy SOs from 25-50) influence, which is sufficient to buy a full set of SOs every five levels from 22-50. If the player has no heroes, no hero-side prizes will be awarded.
- All prizes must be claimed (or arranged to be claimed) within 2 weeks of the winners being announced on the official forums. Only characters with the same global chat handle as the original winning character may claim prizes.
The available HOs are: 1x(resist/end), 2x(dmg/acc), 2x(buff/end)...

The point breakdown for the badges are: Mav, can you verify these numbers with CIT?
- Exporation Badges: 1 point each
- History Badges: 5 points each
- SF badges: 30 points each
- Yellow/red mission badges: 10 points each
- Red/black mission badges: 20 points each
- Kill badges: 10 points each
- PvP mission badges: 1 point per mission required
- Tiered badges (healing, debt, damage, etc): 15 points per tier (so Dazed and Confused would be 30 points)
- Badge badges and Level badges: 10 points each
- All other accomplishment badges: 5 points each
- Respec badges: 30 points each
- Gladiators: 5 points each
The "Low Level Badge Set" consists of all non-PvP exploration and history badges, Plague Carrier, Mask Maker, Stone Cold, Bone Collector, Soldier, and Obsessed. The "Mystery Badge Set" consists of an undisclosed number of badges, all theoretically attainable by characters of level 15 or lower.

How to set up CGT with CIT:
- Go to City Information Terminal and set up an account if you do not already have one.
- Download the most recent stable version of the City Game Tracker and install it. Register for a CGT account if you do not already have one.
- Run the CGT. When prompted, enter your CGT and CIT login information.
- You're all set! Make sure you run CGT before starting up CoV in order to keep your badges up-to-date. If you forget, you can update your character's information by just temporarily setting your badge title to any missing badges (ie, click on them in your badge window while CGT is running).
